Hannah Wittman is a Professor in the Institute of Resources, Environment and Sustainability, and Faculty of Land and Food Systems at the University of British Columbia, Canada. She received her PhD from Cornell University in the field of Development Sociology. She served as Project Lead of the HLPE Report #16 Promoting youth engagement and employment in agriculture and food systems (2021), and currently leads UBC’s Research Excellence Cluster in Diversified Agroecosystems.  Dr. Wittman conducts community-based and participatory action research related to food sovereignty, agrarian reform, agroecology, and health equity in diverse global contexts.  She served as as the inaugural co-Specialty Chief editor of the Social Movements, Institutions and Governance section of Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems and sits on the editoral boards of Agriculture and Human Values and the Journal of Peasant Studies.
