DATE
Thursday October 10, 2024
TIME
5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

The Centre for Climate Justice (CCJ) is proud to co-sponsor the upcoming event “Witnessing The Himalayan (M)Anthropocene” with the UBC Himalaya Program. Join us on October 10, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Liu Institute for Global Issues, for a thought-provoking lecture by Dr. Ritodhi Chakraborty, a political ecologist and lecturer in the Department of Environmental Management at Lincoln University, New Zealand.

Dr. Chakraborty will explore the concept of Ecological Masculinity and its potential as a response to the (M)Anthropocene. Drawing from a decade of engagement with rural communities in the Indian Himalayas, he will discuss the promises and pitfalls of ecological stewardship and care, addressing critical questions about the viability and limits of this approach.

Don’t miss this opportunity to engage in a vital conversation about the intersections of masculinity, environmental justice, and community resilience! Refreshments will be served at the event.
