In August 2025, leaders from across the hemisphere gathered in Mexico City for the second annual Panamerican Congress.
Last year, Colombian President Gustavo Petro inaugurated the Panamerican Congress in Bogotá, convening eight delegations from across North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean to discuss the themes of democracy, peace, and climate.
The Congress concluded with a commitment to continue “forging a community of progressive legislators” and to convene the next Congress in Mexico City, where President Claudia Sheinbaum is leading a transformation “for the good of all, first the poor.”
