We are excited to join in with the Canada Climate Week Xchange, CCWX, which brings Canadians from coast to coast together, one week a year, to collaborate on solutions and opportunities to address our country’s unique climate-related challenges.
This year, CCWX runs from November 24 – 30 to follow directly from the events at COP 30.
CCJ Co-Director Carol Liao is also Chair and Principal Co-Investigator of the Canada Climate Law Initiative, and says that national dialogue is critical for ensuring the country is acting on climate change.
“Canada has only five years to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40 to 45 percent in line with its 2030 targets under the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act,” says Liao. “Cross-collaborations among academia, public and private sectors, Indigenous communities, civil society and scientists are essential to drive climate solutions and opportunities in Canada. We hope the Canada Climate Week Xchange will serve as a vehicle for dialogue among these stakeholders.”
Carol Liao will also be joining Lawyers’ Role in a Warming World, exploring the legal profession’s evolving role in the face of climate change.
